ABOUT LUCAS

                        The Picasso of Cartoon Drawings

Lucas Lauer is your average, run-of-the-mill suburban 14 year old kid. His mom nags him to do his homework and not be on his phone during dinner. He’s nervous about starting high school and tries not to worry if someone doesn’t return a text right away. He’s a fan of superhero movies and anything chocolate.

…And oh yeah, he’s also a bonafide art prodigy.

Lucas Lauer started drawing before he could understand that 2+2 = 4 and before he could write his full name. While most kids were drawing stick figures and flowers with 5 petals (and some of us still are), Lucas was putting complex and sophisticated shapes and color patterns together to draw animated characters that were beyond his years and without the aid of any YouTube art tutorial videos. While Crayola markers are the favorite art medium of every six year old, Lucas segued into high-end art markers to create his signature style and vast portfolio.

At just 9 years old, Lucas met with the most iconic artist in Chicago, TONY FITZPATRICK. After seeing Lucas's portfolio, Tony Fitzpatrick was completely blown away and immensely impressed with Lucas's talent and maturity, not only in his artwork but in Lucas himself. He immediately offered Lucas an internship working alongside him at his studio in Chicago. Lucas has been going to Chicago to intern for Tony Fitzpatrick every Saturday ever since their first initial meeting where he continues to amaze Tony with his incredible artistic talents.

One look into this run-of-the-mill suburban teen’s art portfolio and you’ll quickly notice that not only is his drawings and use of patterns and colors beyond his years, but the content and subject matter within his art is not a match for his age, some of which was created before he turned double digits in age. There were even times when his mother and grandmother were concerned that his art reflected more mature content and emotions than were appropriate for a child of his age at that time. If Picasso drew cartoon characters, there’s a likelihood there would be similarities in his use of shapes, scale and colors that Lucas expresses in his drawings.

But that’s what makes an art prodigy an art prodigy: a child who displays a remarkable and extraordinary amount of attention to detail, depth and expression of artistic genius and emotion far beyond their years and young peers.

So correction: Lucas Lauer is your average, run-of-the-mill suburban 14 year old art prodigy that hopes he has a date to Homecoming and likes anything chocolate. Yeah, that sounds about right.
